Isuzu Kicks Off Construction for New South Carolina Production Facility
Isuzu North America Corporation (INAC) celebrated a major step today with the groundbreaking ceremony for its new 1,000,000-square-foot production facility in Piedmont, South Carolina. The $280 million investment signals the company’s strong, long-term commitment to the North American market.
The event hosted numerous officials, including South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and Isuzu Motors Limited Chairman Masanori Katayama. Governor McMaster highlighted that Isuzu’s investment confirms “South Carolina’s reputation as a destination for world-class companies.”
Noboru Murakami, Chairman and CEO of INAC, emphasized that the new facility will strengthen service ability and “create jobs, contribute to the local economy, and provide a foundation for long-term growth.” The plant, located on 200 acres in Greenville County, will serve as a production hub for Isuzu’s medium-duty truck lineup, including the N-Series Gas, N-Series Electric, and F-Series models.
Production at the Piedmont facility is set to begin in 2027. The plant expects to employ over 700 South Carolinians by 2028 and achieve a production capacity of 50,000 units by 2030. This expansion is central to Isuzu’s broader U.S. strategy, which includes increasing domestic parts sourcing.
