Hino Unveils New Le Series Electric Trucks at ACT Expo
A New Era for Hino Trucks
At the 2026 ACT Expo, Hino Trucks made a big splash by introducing its first official battery-electric lineup: the Le Series. This new family of trucks includes the L6e and the L7e models. For years, Hino has been known for making reliable diesel workhorses. Now, they are bringing that same toughness to the electric vehicle (EV) market. These trucks are designed to help businesses move away from fossil fuels without losing the power they need for daily work.
Power and Charging Specs
The heart of the Le Series is a massive 269 kWh battery system. This setup provides plenty of energy for typical urban routes, like making deliveries or moving landscaping equipment across town. One of the most impressive features is how fast these trucks can get back on the road. Using a DC fast charger, the Le Series can go from a nearly empty battery to an 80% charge in just about 1.8 hours. This makes it perfect for “depot charging,” where the truck charges while the crew is loading up for the next shift or taking a lunch break.
Built for the Real World
Hino did not just swap an engine for a battery; they redesigned how the truck handles the road. The Le Series uses a specialized “e-Axle” that combines the motor and transmission into one unit. This saves space and makes the truck more efficient. For fleet managers, the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is a key number. The L6e model maintains a strong 25,950-lb capacity, making it a true Class 6 contender. Because the trucks are quieter and smoother than diesel models, drivers often feel less tired after a long day of stop-and-go city driving.
Saving Money in the Long Run
While electric trucks can cost more upfront, the “Total Cost of Ownership” is where they shine. By cutting out expensive diesel fuel and reducing the need for traditional engine maintenance—like oil changes or exhaust system repairs—the Le Series is built to save money over time. For businesses looking to hit sustainability goals while keeping their budget in check, these trucks offer a practical way to join the electric revolution.
